Important Message from Duke

Message from Duke-

Prepared to respond

Our first priority with local crews is serving our local communities. We are keeping our crews in place in the Carolinas to ensure we have adequate resources to respond to potential impacts from Ian as it passes through North Carolina and South Carolina. Once Ian has passed and outage restoration is wrapping up in local areas, we can evaluate opportunities to assist our peer utility in Florida.

Hydro high-water preparations

Our meteorologists are forecasting that Ian will impact Duke Energy’s river basins in North Carolina and South Carolina later this week, with the heaviest amounts expected Friday night to late Sunday. Our hydro operations team is moving water through our river basins to lowering lake levels and create more storage for rainfall and runoff. We will continue to monitor conditions until the storm has passed.

We encourage residents who live along lakes and rivers and in flood-prone areas to pay close attention to local media and weather forecasts for changes in weather conditions and rising water levels. Real-time lake level information is available at duke-energy.com/lakes, by calling 800-829-5253 and on the Duke Energy Lake View mobile app.

Reporting power outages

Customers who experience power outages should call Duke Energy’s automated outage-reporting systems for their respective utility:

  • Duke Energy Carolinas: 1-800-POWERON (1-800-769-3766)
  • Duke Energy Progress: 1-800-419-6356

Customers may also report an outage or view current outages online at www.duke-energy.com/outages or text OUT to 57801
