Update on the Lake Tillery drawdown scheduled for this fall.
On Oct. 16, 2023, Duke Energy plans to begin lowering Lake Tillery 6 to 8 feet below full pond level (Normal Full Pond = 100.0 ft) to comply with requirements in the Yadkin-Pee Dee Hydroelectric Project license, issued in 2015, that a drawdown occurs every 5 years. This was last completed in 2018. The drawdown will be maintained between 92.0 ft and 94.0 ft from Oct. 23 until Nov. 10, at which time Duke Energy will begin allowing the lake to refill to normal operating levels. The duration of the drawdown and the time required to refill the lake will depend on weather conditions and river inflows and may be subject to change depending upon these conditions.
Property owners are encouraged to use this scheduled time to perform maintenance and/or make modifications to docks and piers. Lake neighbors planning to make modifications are required to complete the lake permit application, which can now be submitted online. Please contact LakeServices@Duke-Energy.com or 800.443.5193 with questions about the application process. For information on current levels and conditions, please visit duke-energy.com/lakes, download the Duke Energy Lake View mobile app, or call 800.829.5253.
Duke Energy will update you on the status of the drawdown as we approach the scheduled dates.
