If current beach music trends are any indication, it appears that this year’s Norwood Arbor Day Festival committee nailed the entertainment selections for this year. During the March 25 th www.WDZDfm.org with Eric Bowman ‘s Saturday morning new beach music countdown, the Friday night headline band – The Tonez garnered the coveted Lighthouse Lookout Song of the week during their debut week for their new single “Beast of Burden”. The song is wonderfully arranged and produced with a tempo that seasoned SHAGGERS will adore and embrace. The song made famous by the Rolling Stones will likely have Mick Jagger & Keith Richards wondering why they did not think of such an arrangement. In fact, we’re of the opinion the song will hit number 1 on the beach charts and will be a strong contender for Song of the Year.
During the same countdown, the Saturday night head line act Blackwater Rhythm and Blues Band had not One (1)- not Two(2) but THREE (3) songs in the same count down. Folks, you cannot make this stuff up. BWRB # 21 for Birmingham – # 15 Local Girls & # 12 for Love Without Mercy. This is what the Norwood Community and fans of these bands can look forward to during the 24the Annual Arbor Day Festival 2017. We think BWRB will have you singing Lo Lo Local Girls…..
In order to hear these songs you will have to listen to your favorite beach music stations. We wish that we could share these wonderful song with you but they have not yet been released for purchase. Please stay tuned and support these artists & the radio stations that bring you these very talented artists that have become so much of the fabric of our region. Most of all —- Make plans to hear them live at this year’s Norwood Arbor Day Festival April 28th and 29th. You will also want to bring an extra pair of Shaggin’ shoes because one pair won’t get you through the night.
