The Norwood Town Hall is currently without power. This outage is expected to be out for several more hours. The Norwood Town Council will convene at their regular meeting time at 6 pm on Dec 5th. The board could decide to recess to another location. If that is the case, the recessed location will be posted on the front door of town hall. If the meeting is recessed to a future date and time, that notice will also be posted on the front door as well.

Don’t forget the Norwood Christmas Parade is tomorrow @ 5:00 and the Stanly Community Christian Ministries will be taking up canned goods to stock their food pantry. Christian Ministries will have a table set up outside Carolina Choice Realty @ 123A N Main St. to accept donations.
The Town of Norwood is proud to announce that they have secured the 2016 Carolina Beach Music Awards “Group of the Year” – Blackwater Rhythm & Blues as the Saturday night Arbor Day headline band – Saturday April 29th 2017. The group was just awarded one of the most coveted Cammy’s during the Beach Music Awards held last weekend.
“The group is expected to pull a very large audience and we are excited to have them in Norwood” stated Norwood Mayor Pro Tem Linda Campbell. Campbell credits Norwood native Bradley Swaringen for helping seal the deal during the Beach Music Awards. Swaringen is no stranger to the beach music scene and stepped in to help his hometown when needed .
“Blackwater Rhythm & Blues is one of the hottest bands on the music scene. The town might want to go ahead and rent extra chairs now “stated Swaringen. Town Administrator, John Mullis commented that Arbor Day is always an exciting time for the town and is a fun filled family event. Culminating the event with a big name headliner like Blackwater Rhythm & Blues will be icing on the cake for the Arbor Day Festival. Mullis also stated that Blackwater Rhythm & Blues also received “Song of the Year” in 2015 for Dance Tonight .
Mullis stated that more details regarding the 2017 Norwood Arbor Day Festival will be posted in the NEWS section on the town’s website in the coming months. Arbor day is scheduled Thursday night through Saturday night (April 27,28,29 2017)
Coloring Contest for Grade School Children!
The Norwood Christmas parade will be on Wednesday Nov. 30 at 5pm. This year the Christmas tree lighting sponsored by the Norwood Business Association will be expanded and lots of fun for the young and the young at heart. As usual we will have Santa at Town Hall after the parade to hear children’s Christmas list and Mrs. Santa Claus with her trusty Elf to give small gifts to each child. Snacks and refreshments will be supplied by employees of town hall along with council members. This year we will have pre and post parade entertainment at the town hall also. Barry Page will be preforming on his saxophone before the parade and also after. Plus the Memorial Baptist Praise Team will be preforming while children are in line for Santa.
The Decorate Norwood Coloring Contest starts today. A coloring page of downtown Norwood will be available at Norwood Elementary, Town Hall, and some downtown businesses (look for a complete listing in the comments later today.) The deadline for turning the coloring pages to Town Hall is Wednesday Nov. 23. The winners will be announced at the tree lighting ceremony. The contest is open to grade school children to color and decorate Norwood in the coloring page; instructions are on back of the page. There will be a winner for each grade level and winners will receive a gift certificate from the Norwood BoJangles. All the drawings will be displayed in uptown store windows.
